During our recent trip to Collingwood we had the opportunity to partake in a few craft beers. You might not know this but Collingwood has an amazing selection of Craft Breweries, Cidery’s and Wineries. Our type of vacation spot. And lets not forget the scenery, great people and restaurants. We had the opportunity to spend a week in the area in November and now I want to give you a bit of insight into what we saw, what we did and maybe give you an urge to go visit. Next up is Pie, for wood fired pizza, a family favourite
We always do our research when we are heading into a new area and for Collingwood we discovered a few eateries had been featured on You Gotta Eat Here. Well we made it our mission to check a few of the spots out. PIE is a Wood Fired Pizza Joint that started feeding people in Barrie in 2009 and hasn’t looked back since. Pie Wood Fired Pizza Joint now has six locations, two in Barrie, one in Woodbridge, Muskoka, Mactier and Collingwood. Obviously we hit the Collingwood location and we were not disappointed.
It was a quiet day, November is probably not the busiest time, non-ski and summer seasons but that worked for us. Quick and friendly service and an awesome dining experience
The pizza is cooked in a 3000 pound oven that they imported from Italy. It heats up to 900 degrees and therefore they are able to cook up to 8 pies at one time in a matter of 90 seconds. The dough is made fresh every morning and always stretched by hand. The Pizza’s are amazing and I am a pizza snob.
Pie is the Ferris Bueller of Wood Oven Pizza Joints! Our Pies, Promos and in-store ambiance are designed to appease people of every demographic in all walks of life. Couple that with a world class pizza that never concedes to any compromise on quality and you have a sure bet for a remarkable experience of what our French friends call ‘le bon vivant!” – Craig Russell, co-owner
BTW, the round menu is the size of the Pizza’s which is a good indication of do you want to share or not.
I opted for the Pepperoni Plus – Tomato Sauce Base, Mozzarella, Fresh Mozzarella, and Pepperoni with Maple Chili Glaze, the maple chili glaze added such an amazing touch. I wanted to go back for more.
Kent went with the Porky Pie. Tomato Sauce Base, Mozzarella, Double Smoked Bacon and
Sausage,Topped with Prosciutto and Basil. Again another yummy pie.
