During our recent trip to Collingwood we had the opportunity to partake in a few craft beers.  You might not know this but Collingwood has an amazing selection of Craft Breweries, Cidery’s and Wineries.  Our type of vacation spot. And lets not forget the scenery, great people and restaurants.  We had the opportunity to spend a week in the area in November and now I want to give you a bit of insight into what we saw, what we did and maybe give you an urge to go visit. Next up was a real gem, who know there would be such an amazing vineyard.  Coffin Ridge Winery is a must visit

A scenic property with a deck meant to inspire ypu to sit and relax. You are encouraged to share a bottle and a chacauterie plate and admire the view.  Fire pits and blankets are provided no matter what the temperature. Coffin Ridge Vineyard and Winery is located along the beautiful and rugged northern end of the Niagara Escarpment, with a stunning view of Georgian Bay and the islands off Colpoys Bay.

They began planting in Grey County’s first vineyard in 2001 and have gradually expanded from the original five acres to twenty-five.  they have a few signature wines, starting with Resurrection Rόse, Into the Light White and Back From The Dead Red.  All have a unique flavour but one that will have you coming back for more.
They specialize in artisanal wines, made from varietals suited to northern geography such as Geisenheim, Maréchel Foch, L’Acadie Blanc, Baco Noir and Marquette. The owners, Neil and Gwen Lamont, have extensively researched cold climate grapes and carefully chosen varieties that thrive in Grey County’s clay soil and sometimes frigid climate.
In 2008 they added cider production and now produce an exciting, crisp and dry Forbidden Cider which happens to be available at LCBO outlets throughout the province.  ( and side note we have also discovered the wine in our local LCBO, so yea for us)
A fun red door welcomes you in the tasting room,

Inside you will find a warm and inviting space and displays set to entice you to sample, I loved the fact that at the entryway the table and baskets are filled to overflowing with cozy blankets in red and black, each meant to entice you into enjoying an afternoon break on the sundeck.

Of course after our tasting, we had to purchase a few glasses of vino and a chaucuterie plate. I wrapped myself in a blanket and enjoyed the sun. The wind was crisp but the view was so worth it. We were not the only ones stopping in for an afternoon away from the hustle and bustle.

Even the watercloset was a delight, decorated in black and red and meant to invoke thoughts of coffins and scary.

From the Coffin Ridge Website: While we are defined by our delicious wines and ciders as well as by the compelling beauty of our surroundings, we also have a reputation for our unique and inspiring events program.
Come to us in February for a bracing snow shoe tour of the sleeping vineyard and in the spring and fall for our author reading series where we show case some of Canada’s most talented writers. With the arrival of true out-door weather there is our Pizza Pie Party in May, and the hugely popular “3 Pigs” event each June – our official heel kick to summer.
Open daily year round, our current winter hours are 12-5 seven days a week. Truly there is no better spot in all of Ontario to take in a summer sunset than our patio overlooking the vineyard, the Bay, and the western horizon.

I loved the wine and cider and adored the theme set throughout.  This is a winery I encourage you to add to your must visit list.  A Vineyard worth the trip.
