During our recent trip to Collingwood we had the opportunity to partake in a few craft beers. You might not know this but Collingwood has an amazing selection of Craft Breweries, Cidery’s and Wineries. Our type of vacation spot. And lets not forget the scenery, great people and restaurants. We had the opportunity to spend a week in the area in November and now I want to give you a bit of insight into what we saw, what we did and maybe give you an urge to go visit. Up now is The Smoke Eatery
The Smoke is the newest Collingwood joint to be selected by the producers of the show. John Catucci and the film crew spent 2 days here, filming in the kitchen and in the dining area, interviewing customers, and tasting The Smoke’s Cow Meets Pig Sandwich, Smoked Poutine Burger and Smoked Banana Ice Cream on Smoked Apple Crisp Well I can tell you we tried out all the recommendations and oh my, this is one where the pictures truly speak louder than any words. Its a quaint little eatery, nothing fancy, just a basic set up and great service. This is a restuarant that did not need to get fancy, the food is what draws in the customers and keeps them coming back.
Our timing was perfect, we were first in the door and had the place to ourselves long enough for me to snap a few pictures. It quickly filled up and I know why.
I started with a glass of wine and Kent tried another craft beer and we perused the menu, not sure why because we ended up ordering everything the show told us too lol.
I stuck with the Meatery, a sampling of ribs, brisket and pulled pork and it was mouth watering. I also had to order the smoked mac and cheese and I ate every bite.
Kent went with the Pig meets cow burger….. it was an insane amount of meat but again well worth the visit.
Don’t forget to try the cornbread, it is a nice touch. Truth be told not my favourite part but still good. I like a sweet cornbread.
As stuffed as we were we had to order the Smoked apple crisp with the homemade banana ice cream. It didn’t sound as delicious as it actually is and trust me we ate every bite.
Trust me this is worth the drive even if you don’t plan on staying, although that would be a shame because it is such a lovely little town
