Margarita’s are considered on of the most perfect drinks, in our house.  Kent has always been a lover of Tequila and over the past few years we have amassed a collection of world class tequila’s, nothing is to good for my K ( LOL).  On a serious note we have collected many fine tequilas and with the love of Margaritas found in this household it was suggested determined that we should find the perfect Margarita. ( and I assure you this has nothing to do with our yearly trips to Mexico)

Margarita Quest

So on a sunny Saturday afternoon in June the quest began. Out came the tequila’s, the Grand Marnier’s, the cointreau, lemons, limes, the Blender you name it, anything margarita related was hauled out to the outdoor bar. The mixing began, the boys tried it all from the cheapest Tequila to the best we had, cointreau, no cointreau, triple sec, hmmm maybe not….

As I was posting on Facebook during the day we received  lots of comments  and many helpful suggestions NOT… Everyone was full of ideas and comments but truly no out of the box surprisingly helpful tips.  Most were just curious as to could they come visit, and do we bartend for free.

Needless to say many hours drinks later the secret formula was discovered, the perfect Margarita is…. wait for it…. almost time… yep here it is:

Ingredients for the Perfect Margarita

  •

Ingredients:
4 ounces good-quality Tequila must be Herrudura Reposoda
1 1/2 ounces Triple Sec ( sub Grand Marnier)
3 ounces fresh-squeezed store bought frozen lime juice ( mixed with water)
2 to 3 ounces simple syrup
Lots of ice (about 1 to 2 cups ice cubes)* must be crushed
Coarse salt, for rimming the glass
Lime slices, garnish
* How much ice you use depends on your taste. You may want to experiment with the ice.

Secret to the Preparation:

In a blender, combine Tequila,  grand marnier, lime juice, sprite/7up/, and ice. Whirl until ice is just crushed and mixture well blended (do not allow the ice to become a puree).
Serve in Margarita Glasses with coarse salt or Margarita Salt on the rims of the glasses and a lime slice.
NOTE: To create a salt-rimmed glass, take one of the lemon rinds from above and rub the drinking surface of the glass so it is barely moist. Dip the edge of the glass into salt.
Makes 2 to 3 servings.

Items to Have for your Tasting

Slight update, when we conducted this experiment we used a blender. I have sense purchased a Margaritaville Mixer ( woohoo).

Honestly this is how they actually looked when they were done….or at least how they were seeing each other.I came in for the grand finale and had the perfect drink served to me.
