For week three of my Thirsty Thursday series we are heading to Lailey Vineyards. Leaving Southbrook we meandered over to Lailey, our first visit to this vineyard. This winery devotes itself to producing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and my favourite Riesling.
“We listen to the vines, so they can tell us what we need to do to them. After 40 years of listening, we like to believe we are becoming fluent in the language of the vine. Everything we do here, from grape to glass, we do by hand, in partnership with the vines, the earth, and the micro-climate they grow in. Our wines express the natural characteristics of the varietal and the vineyard they come from. Every step of the winemaking process is a dance with them that shifts each year as the vines, the earth and the weather conditions shift.”
Entering the building, one is met immediately with a tasting bar and a lovely display of the wines available
Please note you know how much I love chalkboard art lately, well this one just spoke to me…, that lovely advertisement on the wall caught my attention and not only did we try the wine, we purchased a few bottles….
Hmmm noting the expressions of my lovely companions, Kent seems to be paying close attention as Alex looks skeptically on… or maybe he was just thinking seriously Linda another picture….. Thankfully Jane seems to be having a good time.
Many of Lailey’s wines are available at the LCBO but take it from me it is far more interesting and exciting to take a visit to the Vineyard and sample a few first
Outside there is a pleasant little green area where one can relax and enjoy the day or just read up a bit on where the vines are planted and the types of soil involved. I love discovering new tidbits of information about my favourite hobby, WINE.
If you are in the area, yes, another vineyard to add to your list.
This picture has been borrowed from Lailey’s Facebook as I did not get a shot of the whites

I've never been to a vineyard, or even a wine tasting – sounds and looks like so much fun. Wine would be a great hobby to have esp if you can visit places like this!
