Its that time again, time for fun with Napkins, my version of Sheldon’s fun with Flags. Yea I feel almost as geeky but that’s OK. If you have been following me you know I love my napkins, Roses, Easter Bunnies and Christmas Trees have all had their fifteen minutes of fame, now it’s Mr. Turkey Time. Thanksgiving needs a napkin all it’s own and what better way to say Thanks, then with a TURKEY.
Turkey Napkin Inspiration
I fell upon this design by accident, actually Jay showed me. We were having dinner and the drummer Jay was admiring the rose napkins. He went on to explain the fold they used for the Golf Club events in Thunder Bay. Yes guys fold too, who would have thought. Well over a few glasses of wine we discussed the folds and I learned how to Fan. I then discovered pretty accents created fun animals and so was born the Turkey.
A Tutorial for the Thanksgiving Napkin Design
I decided to create a youtube walk through to help you out, give it a watch ( and maybe a thumbs up or share). You Tube is so finicky and has stop showing some of my videos so I have inserted the actual link to Turkey Napkin Folds.
Step by step Walk through
- grab a square cloth napkin
- Fold the napkin in half.
- take one of the ends and start pleating the cloth
- pleat at least half way
- fold the napkin in half length wise ( holding on to the pleats)
- make sure you fold on the non pleated side.
- on the plate take the unpleated section of napkin and make a tail ( or stand)
- allow the pleats to drop softly, this should create a stand up fan)
- grab an acorn and add to front of napkin, you can leave plain or adorned
- enjoy your guests reaction.
Hope you had fun and remember show me your creations with #funwithnapkins

It is far easier to watch this fold then write the words I tell you. I probably will not do this clearly and concisely but I am going to try.Tried this recipe?Mention @alabouroflife or tag #alabouroflife!
