Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring…..oh wait, I have a cat so yes she was stirring. Not only was she stirring she was letting out such a harsh wail I thought she was in distress, but no, she had just stolen yet another ornament off my tree and had carried it all the way upstairs…. , the angel was almost as big as she was, guess she was having an animated discussion.
So in honour of my little Lou who unlike my Meeko , is fascinated with trees and ornaments:
Twas the Night before Christmas and all through the house,
We were not stirring but Lou was quiet as a mouse (or not)
The stockings were strewn through the house on the floor,
and ornaments were tossed without care ever more
We were all nestled all snug in our bed,
but Lou she was restless , bad thoughts in her head,
the house was all quiet , she ignored my lap
as she pranced down the stairs without taking a nap.
When down in the living room there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter,
I ran down the stairs. I flew like a flash,
Into the room in a total mad dash,
The lights from the Tree on the hardwood floor,
Gave a lustre of newness through the living room door,
and what to my wondering eye did appear,
but a tree on the floor and smashed ornaments galore,.
Well my little ole kitty so lively and quick,
tried to climb the tree to hide from St Nick.
and in a twinkling I felt a paw on my foot
as she looked up at me all covered in soot.
So I ran through the house and to my dismay,
she had discovered a new place to play,
As she hid in the tree from strange noises and sound
down the chimney St Nick had come with a bound,
His sack full of toys flung on his back,
was a dream come true when he opened his sack.
catnip, and toys to her utter delight,
she forgot in an instant her worry and fright,
A wink of his eye, and a twist of his head,
showed her in an instant she had nothing to dread,
He spoke not a word, and went straight to the tree,
he picked up the pieces and nodded at me,
He then found the stockings without a word,
and all through the house not a sound could be heard,
the cat stared in wonder and awe as he worked,
until he was finished and turned with a jerk,
He gave her a treat and a pat on the head,
He told her it really was time for her bed,
so off to the bedroom she scampered with haste
time for bed not a moment to waste,
He then laid his finger on the side of his nose,
he gave me a nod as up the chimney he rose,
He jumped in his sleigh and his deer they were tame,
as they pulled away I heard him exclaim
Merry Christmas to you and to Lou a good night.
and in honour of my little Lou and to all you cat lovers Merry Christmas and can you relate.

sorry to hear your cat knock your tree over. Merry Christmas.

Lol, that was great! My cats have never knocked over the tree, but I keep it tied down so unless they can chew through fishing line it's not going to happen. Hope that was just a poem and not real! Have a Merry Christmas!
