Well shame on me, I started an awesome wine blogging series ( here, here and here as a sample) and then bham I stopped before I made it through to one of  my favourite Vineyards.  So on this awesome Tuesday I thought I would take you on a little visit to the Niagara Wine Region to visit what might just be my fav vineyard.  I have a soft spot for Tawse, maybe because it was my very first vineyard, maybe because it is an amazing building and grounds or maybe because it has the most awesome Rieslings ( and a ton of other fabulous wines)
If you just tuned in for an outfit or two scroll down but seriously I think you may want to stop and visit with me, this is a vineyard you do not want to miss.
Gate at Tawse Winery

Tawse Winery
It is a pretty awesome site, driving through the gates at Tawse Winery.Tawse is a family-owned estate winery situated on the lower slopes of the Niagara Escarpment.  At Tawse they unite traditional winemaking techniques with state-of-the-art technology to create wines of exceptional elegance, depth and character.  Their fruit is harvested from old-growth, low-yield vines and gently handled using natural gravity flow and geothermic energy. One of the unique aspects of this vineyard is how they apply rigorous organic and biodynamic methods to every aspect of their  wine production. Ecocert and Demeter seals now appear on all Tawse vintages made from their biodynamic vineyards.

Tawse Vineyards

Tawse Winery,

At Tawse there are actually six separate vineyards, each with their own unique characteristics: ( the following is taken directly from the Tawse Website, not to infringe on their copyright but as a way of illustrating how extensive a vineyard this is)
Cherry Avenue Vineyard ( which has my fav, I am a bit partial to the Carly’s Block Riesling )
The 3 blocks in this estate vineyard are named after the children of Moray and Joanne Tawse, and are situated in the Twenty Mile Bench sub appellation. Total Area: Approx 21 acres, planted with Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Robyn’s Block: 5 acres of Chardonnay planted in 1981 and 1 acre of Pinot Noir planted in 2002 and 2005.
Carly’s Block: 1.3 acres of Riesling planted in 1976. These are some of the oldest Riesling vines on the Niagara Escarpment.
David’s Block: 2 acres of Cabernet Franc and 5 acres of Merlot planted in 1998: 5 acres of Chardonnay and 2 acres of Pinot Noir planted in 2005.
Hillside Vineyard
Located adjacent to our Cherry Avenue estate vineyard in the Twenty Mile Bench sub appellation.
Total Area: 9 acres: 5 acres of 23 year old Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 acres of 23 year old Chardonnay, 1 acre of 13 year old Pinot Gris and 1 acre of 11 year old Syrah.
Quarry Road Vineyard
Our Quarry Road vineyard sits near the top of the Niagara Escarpment in the Vinemount Ridge sub appellation.
Total Area: 43 acres: 20 acres of tightly planted Pinot Noir, 11 acres of tightly planted Riesling, 9 acres of Chardonnay and 3 acres Gewurztraminer.
Tintern Road Vineyard
Located in the Vinemount Ridge sub appellation.
Total Area: 6 acres of new, tightly planted Pinot Noir
Redstone Vineyard
Located in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub appellation.  Total area: 38 acres: 12 acres planted – with Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Merlot and Syrah
 Limestone Ridge Vineyard
Located in the Twenty Mile Bench sub appellation. Total of 65 acres (60 planted);  40 acres of Riesling, 8 acres of Chardonnay, 8 acres of Pinot Noir and 4 acres of Sauvignon Blanc.

Tawse offers a complete selection of reds, whites, Rose, sparkling and dessert wines.  I have had several visits to Tawse since my first experience and everyone has been a unique experience. The staff is friendly and very experienced.  The last visit we had an opportunity to visit the members club tasting room and that was an experience I will not soon forget. If you are in Niagara make sure you add this Vineyard to your list of Must See spots.

The blue looks absolutely stunning on you. I love maxi dresses, so easy to wear and I love how you've styled it with that great looking necklace and the leopard print sandals.

Did you prefer the reds or the whites?
