Today I have a new friend to share, really I do. Y’all know how much I love my 30 year old Regal Slow Cooker, it was an antique but loyal. Well she is starting to fade and it as time to try something new. Showing a little wear I thought it was time to give her some help. Well hello, Hamilton Beach has a Rice Cooker with a slow cook function.
I thought I would work with Hamilton Beach to up my meal prep game. Sharing this brand new all in one appliance, that does it all. It will slow cook, saute, cook rice, steam and even keep foods warm. I have just discovered the number one ultimate family helper, well maybe number two after Kent.
Hamilton Beach and my New Rice Cooker
Truth be told I have heard of rice cookers but never actually thought of trying one. Now after testing this out I wonder why I waited so long. I understand rice is not complicated to cook but it does take time. And can go awry if the water is off.
HB created the perfect system, add the rice, add the water and set the timer. You can even prep it in the morning and set the timer so its ready when you get home from work.
When I first read the directions, I was skeptical. How was a machine that would take 30 minutes better than just making the rice on the stove. Then I used the machine. No watching water boil, no stirring the rice and no need to add anything. The rice cooked as we got everything else ready. We weren’t distracted and clean up was a breeze.
Meet my New HB Friend
Such a great little machine with so many features.:
- 16 cup cooked rice capacity / 8 cup uncooked rice capacity
- Rices and grains, hot cereals, steam, slow cook, sauté
- Fuzzy logic microcomputer adjusts cooking parameters to ensure perfect rice
- Digital display indicates cooking progress and remaining time
- Slow cook & sauté functions
- Nonstick 3.5 quart bowl with thick walls for even heating and handles for easy serving
- Removable inner lid – For easy cleanup
- Automatic keep warm
The removable inner lid and pot made the clean up so easy ( and for me that is key).
Making Rice
Get ready for the easiest recipe ever. If you want to make rice for two, add two “containers” of rice.
Use the measure provided with your machine.
Fill with water up to “2”.
Close the lid and set the timer. Wait 30 minutes and then enjoy perfect rice.
Using the Slow Cook Function
Pork Ribs using the slow cook function was the perfect way to try out the new function. This was so very simple. Spice up your ribs with a dry marinade. Place in the Rice Cooker.
Close lid and select slow cook. Four hours later, perfect ribs.
Kent removed them and grilled them on the BBQ for a few minutes and supper was ready.
Have you ever tried a Rice Cooker? I am a true convert and cannot wait to try out all the other functions. Next up for me, Pumpkin Spice Cake in a rice cooker? It looks so delicious I am sure its next on my list to try. And if you love this you might want to check out my Hamilton Beach Set & Forget Slow Cooker or the Egg Bites Machine.
