It is almost Valentine’s Day and yes also Galentine’s. Continuing with my love of pink for this hearts and flowers week I thought I would share my mantle decor. While I may not have as many boxes of seasonal decoration for this day I still like to spruce up my home. Valentine’s Day decor for the mantle create a new love in the living room,
Valentine’s Decor for Your Mantle
Do you decorate on this “love” day? Traditionally I use to go with the big pops of red but this year I yearned for a softer approach. Looking around my home i opted to utilize many existing pieces with a few new finds.
Obviously I wanted to decorate around my new Valentines Day Wreath. I tested out hanging it in the frame but I loved just having it rest on the mantle. Treating a wreath like I would a framed picture, not limited to the traditional look.
Upcycle Red Pieces
Next up was the LOVE frame I found at Michael’s, on clearance. I loved the look but the heart was a solid red. Hmm not difficult to overcome. Switching the red heart for a pink sparkle heart was a quick change. A little folk art paint and some sparkles while the paint was still wet and I had a whole new piece.
The new frame seemed the perfect accent to go along with the wreath. Balancing off the mantle with a slightly more symmetrical look. Adding a few felt hearts and a pink lantern from Ikea I use frequently. I kept moving the pretty arrow I found at Target. Last year it was a barcart decor, this year mantle style.
Creating Valentine’s Ambiance
The mantle still needed something to make it flow. Recognizing maybe softer artwork, I changed the picture above. Taking a more homey piece of wall art and changing it. Hearts instead of pictures hanging made it flow. Don’t restrict yourself, shop your house, go with the odd change it to suit you.
Personally I probably add or move the pieces around daily till I find a look I love. There are no rules just your eye and taste to guide you.
Tip: Change it up every day. Notice I added a fun pink peppermint candle and moved the arrow. Just a small change but one that made an impact to me.
Remember it is your home, your Valentines Day celebration. Embrace what makes you smile.
