Are you a fan of the Angry Birds Game? Have you ever played? Well that is a silly question, hasn’t everyone played? I am a game addict no question and I admit that boldly and proudly.
Its really funny I can still remember so clearly the first time Kent played, it was Christmas Day 2011. Kent and I purchased each other the same tablet ( a whole other funny story) and the boys decided he needed to discover the joys of Angry Birds…. and so began his first e-gaming experience. Fast forward to the Angry Bird Movie being released on digital and it wasn’t hard to convince him we needed to watch it. Leading up to the movie we sat and reminisced about that by gone Christmas when the boys were here visiting… love family memories and exploring them together
So movie night in our house can be an adventure ( we are hosting a Tragically Hip Viewing for the 20th and it has been weeks in the planning). So in my mind why would the Angry Birds be treated any differently right?? I thought I would create a Bird snack station for the household. The boys loved it and it took the whole viewing experience to a new level.
I had this awesome idea of creating Pretzel sling shots so we could have a friendly little competition during the movie, well that may have been an epic fail, pretzels just were not hardy enough. I then tried black licorice sticks, they looked amazing but again nope. I think sling shots have to be made only of wood so we reverted to a healthy game of bird and pig toss.I decided then to leave the licorice slings on display and crushed the pretzels into TNT residual. Made a fun display.
We had popcorn, and a sampling of worms, spiders and eggs to add in as special treats. I made some bird nest plates with eggs for those non-popcorn fans ( there are a few, shocking isn’t it).
In the interest of recovering from my sling shot fail, I turned my focus to Angry Bird Deviled Eggs and my Bird toss game. Gotta confess, huge hit. Its not a typical movie food but it really seemed to work with this movie, kind of like my Sharknado night.
As a special bonus you can visit the Family Mobile Hub to find an in-store event near you to meet with a Walmart Family Mobile rep. The event will have a code that you can scan to receive a free power up for the Endless Runner Game on the Angry Birds Action! app. plus you can scan the Angry Birds code on the displays in store to unlock a selfie augmented reality experience with the Hatchlings. Too cool right?
Lou decided she needed in on the action, ever watch a cat chase flying pigs and birds?? It was a hilarious end to the evening. Lou showed her Angry Bird Colour, she is Chuck. Go figure Chuck and Lou, sounds like a great title for a new movie.
