Happy Monday, and it sure is a Happy Day. I started my Christmas decorating this weekend and I got my winter clothes switchover completed. Woohoo for me. OK show of hands who has their tree up
Tweeting out the results
Laughing here cuz it looks like I am tweeting out the results of my informal survey. So are you a Halloween then the tree, Remembrance Day first or US Thanksgiving first Tree person? I love Christmas and I love decorating so of course this time of year is like my ahahaaaa moments.
I cannot decorate before Remembrance Day though. It’s just the who things were when I grew up. Not trying to get onto a debate and I am not sure where the “internal rule” came from but its there and it’s real.
My tradition has been for as long as I can remember ( not childhood I am talking Linda adulting. Remembrance Day Service and then let the decorating begin. I use the time between Halloween and the 11th to de-decorate the house and remember what the 11th stands for. It’s just a me thing but it seems the least I can do to stop and recognize the day.
It’s tough as a Christmas fanatic when the stores start putting stuff out earlier and earlier…. what is it with that anyway?
Respect the Seasons
Don’t you wish the retail calendar and yes even the “blog” calendars would just follow the season? I want to see Fall starting in September not July. I want Thanksgiving the two weeks leading up to it and Halloween can easily start after Thanksgiving. Christmas should not be in the stores nor on the blog until after the 11th and for heavens sakes
Summer clothes are not appreciated in January when I am still dealing with the over eating excesses of holiday eating. There is a positive to the retail aspect though, normally be the time a Holiday arrives everything has been marked down on sale to make room for the next too early holiday.
Am I alone in my thoughts? All that being said, bring on the new Christmas blog posts folks I am truly in the season now. Plus I plan on sharing my tree, home and village over the next few days.
Target Green Dress for the OOTD
So how about this dress? Isn’t it totally adorable? I am not even sure if cold shoulder is still OK after Labour Day but who cares. I like adding a fun strapped cami or cover underneath to add a bit of accent. I found this at Target when I was in Pennsylvania. It was a bit of a chore though because Dubois does not have a Target and neither does Grove City where the outlets where.
Me being the industrious little shopper found one in State College ( ironically home of Penn State, I found that funny) They had a Target, a Khols and even a Homesense ( but the American version which I totally cannot remember). You know what I mean the store that carries Rae Dunn sometimes. Yes I am a Dunn addict as well. I was so sad my US trip only gave me a PURR dish and a bowl. I was on the Christmas hunt but found nothing.
Enough of the Dunn moving back to the outfit, hello Target you never ever disappoint. I picked up this dress, a plaid shimmer dress , a party skirt, a blouse and matching skirt and a pink/blush blazer and then had to stop.
So back to todat, this baby was on clearance so that was a happy find. It also pairs perfectly with my Shoe Dazzle boots and this 7 Charming Sisters Tassle necklace.
So sorry for the hodge podge of a post but gotta go…… my tree is calling my name.
