Life Onboard Virgin Voyages: Entertainment, Parties & Experiences You Won’t Want to Miss
When most people think about a Virgin Voyages cruise, the first things that come to mind are the incredible restaurants, adults-only atmosphere, and beautiful ships. While all of those deserve the praise they receive, what truly sets Virgin Voyages apart is the energy onboard.
From sunset sail-aways and spontaneous pop-up performances to themed dance parties that keep the ship buzzing well into the night, there’s always something happening.
After sailing aboard Resilient Lady, I discovered that life onboard is less about following a schedule and more about choosing your own adventure. Whether you’re looking for live music, dazzling entertainment, quiet lounges, or late-night dancing, you’ll find your perfect pace.
Here’s what you can expect.

The Sail Away Party
No Virgin Voyages cruise truly begins until the Sail Away Party.
As the ship leaves port, the pool deck transforms into a celebration filled with upbeat music, dancing, cocktails, and an infectious excitement that brings everyone together.
It’s impossible not to smile as sailors line the railings, wave goodbye to shore, and toast the beginning of their vacation. And fun fact the bubbly is free, so don’t forget to grab a glass or two.

Don’t miss: Arrive 20–30 minutes early to grab a good spot around the pool.

Scarlet Night: The Party Everyone Talks About
If there’s one event you absolutely cannot miss, it’s Scarlet Night.
The entire ship transforms into a sea of red as guests embrace the theme with vibrant outfits, glowing accessories, and plenty of creativity.
Throughout the evening you’ll encounter:
- Live performances
- Pop-up entertainment
- Interactive experiences
- DJs
- Dancing
- Specialty cocktails
The atmosphere builds throughout the night before culminating in one unforgettable deck party.
Even if you’re not usually one for themed events, Scarlet Night has a way of drawing everyone in.
Tip: Pack something red—you’ll be glad you did.

PJ Party
Virgin Voyages proves that you don’t need fancy clothes to throw an incredible party. Often on deck but sometimes in the Manor. I have actually experienced both and truth be told, PJ’s on deck are truly the Virgin Way.
The PJ Party invites everyone to show up in pajamas, robes, slippers, or anything cozy before dancing under the stars.
It sounds unusual…
Until you experience it.
The relaxed atmosphere makes it incredibly easy to meet people, laugh together, and simply enjoy the moment.
It’s one of those events that perfectly captures Virgin’s playful personality.

Live Music Around the Ship
One of my favourite parts of sailing aboard Resilient Lady was how often I stumbled across live music.
Whether enjoying a cocktail before dinner or relaxing after an excursion, there always seemed to be talented musicians performing somewhere onboard.
You’ll discover:
- Acoustic guitar sets
- Piano performances
- Jazz
- Pop covers
- Solo vocalists
- Small bands
Every venue offers a slightly different vibe, making it easy to find music that suits your mood.

The Manor
Inspired by Sir Richard Branson’s original music venue, The Manor becomes the heart of Virgin Voyages nightlife after dark.
This two-level nightclub features:
- DJs
- Dance parties
- Theme nights
- Live performances
- Late-night entertainment
Even if you’re not normally a nightclub person, it’s worth stopping by at least once. And build in some time for pictures the mirrored hallway is well worth it.
The atmosphere is energetic without ever feeling overwhelming.

Duel Reality
One of the standout theatrical productions onboard is Duel Reality.
Inspired by Romeo and Juliet, this acrobatic performance combines:
- Circus acts
- Athletic choreography
- Theatre
- Comedy
- Music
The performers are astonishingly talented, and the intimate theatre setting means every seat offers a fantastic view.
It’s unlike any cruise production show I’ve experienced.

Festival Stage
Throughout the cruise you’ll also find smaller performances taking place in lounges and public spaces.
These include:
- Comedy
- Singers
- Variety acts
- Interactive entertainment
- Guest musicians
One of the joys of Virgin Voyages is that entertainment isn’t confined to a theatre.
Sometimes the best performances happen when you least expect them.

Pool Days
The pool deck isn’t just for swimming.
During sea days it becomes one of the ship’s liveliest gathering spots, with:
- DJs
- Games
- Fitness classes
- Poolside cocktails
- Casual entertainment
Whether you want to join the fun or simply relax with a book nearby, the atmosphere is always upbeat without feeling overcrowded.

Quiet Moments
Not every memorable experience involves loud music.
Some of my favourite onboard moments included:
- Watching the sunset from the outdoor decks
- Enjoying coffee with an ocean view
- Relaxing in one of the quieter lounges
- Taking an evening stroll around the promenade
- Sitting on our balcony listening to the waves
Virgin Voyages makes it just as easy to unwind as it does to celebrate.

The Virgin Voyages Difference
What impressed me most wasn’t any single show or party.
It was how naturally everything flowed together.
There was never any pressure to participate, yet somehow every event felt welcoming. You could dance until 2:00 a.m., enjoy a quiet cocktail while listening to live music, or simply watch the ocean from a comfortable lounge.
Virgin has created an atmosphere where guests are encouraged to enjoy the cruise however they choose.
That freedom is what makes the experience feel so different from many traditional cruise lines.

Is the Entertainment Worth It?
Absolutely.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, travelling with friends, or enjoying a couples getaway, the onboard entertainment offers something for every personality.

Final Thoughts
Life onboard Resilient Lady is about so much more than simply getting from one destination to the next.
It’s about dancing under the stars, laughing with new friends, discovering unexpected performances, enjoying incredible food, and finding those quiet moments at sea that remind you why cruising is such a special way to travel.
Whether you’re a first-time Virgin Voyages sailor or planning your next cruise, the entertainment, parties, and unique experiences onboard are every bit as memorable as the destinations themselves.
For me, that’s what makes Virgin Voyages truly stand out.
