Homemade Cannoli Pie, another video recipe I found on Facebook and just had to try. I am relatively new to the cannoli world but true confession they are yummy so finding an easy adaptation was like a bonus for me. My secret ingredient, wait for it Smooth lemon zest cottage cheese.Quite the shocker, right? Try this instead of ricotta, I promise you will not be disappointed.
Cannoli Pie Recipe with a twist
Got a bit of a secret though, cannoli calls for Ricotta cheese and this recipe called for Ricotta and lemon zest but I like to shake things up a bit so I tried something new Gay Lea lemon zest cottage cheese. WTH right…. cottage cheese. It’s already blended and has the perfect consistency. Plus it saves time, two ingredients combined into one already.
Recipes using Cottage Cheese
I use cottage cheese a lot in my lasagna and once I even used it in a cheesecake but I was leary of messing with the smooth cannoli recipe. Stumbling upon the Gay Lea smooth citrus ( and they even have a salted caramel) cottage cheese at the Superstore was a bonus. So I thought this might be an interesting twist. It was. Too funny that I could never eat cottage cheese on its own but I love cooking with it. The pie was a huge hit.
Inspired by the success of this recipe I also made a Cannoli Dip and a Cannoli Dip in Waffle Bowls
Homemade Cannoli Pie made with Gay Lea Blended Cottage Cheese
- 2 8 oz Cream cheese
- 1 c gay lea blended lemon zest cottage cheese
- 1 c icing sugar
- 1 c whipping cream
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- dash nutmeg
- 2 tbsp mexican vanilla
- 1 c mini chocolate chips
- 1 graham cracker crust
- waffle cone broken
- • Blend everything together
- • Pour into crust
- garnish with waffle cone or cannoli shells and chocolate chips
- refrigerate for 3 hours

Ever since I was little, one of my favorite treats to get from the bakery was always a cannoli. I love that you expanded upon it and made them into a beautiful, grand dessert.
