Homemade Cannoli Pie, another video recipe I found on Facebook and just had to try. I am relatively new to the cannoli world but true confession they are yummy so finding an easy adaptation was like a bonus for me. My secret ingredient, wait for it Smooth lemon zest cottage cheese
Cannoli Pie Recipe with a twist
Got a bit of a secret though, cannoli calls for Riccota cheese and this recipe called for Ricotta and lemon zest but I like to shake things up a bit so I tried something new Gay Lea lemon zest cottage cheese. I know WTH right…. cottage cheese. It’s already blended and has the perfect consistency. Plus it saves time, two ingredients combined into one already.
Recipes using Cottage Cheese
I use cottage cheese a lot in my lasagna and once I even used it in a cheesecake but I was leary of messing with the smooth cannoli recipe. I stumbled upon the smooth citrus ( and they even have a salted caramel) cottage cheese at the Superstore and I thought this might be an interesting twist. It was. Too funny that I could never eat cottage cheese on its own but I love cooking with it. The pie was a huge hit.
a quick and easy summer dessert
- 2 8 oz Cream cheese
- 1 c gay lea blended lemon zest cottage cheese
- 1 c icing sugar
- 1 c whipping cream
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- dash nutmeg
- 2 tbsp mexican vanilla
- 1 c mini chocolate chips
- 1 graham cracker crust
- waffle cone broken
• Blend everything together
• Pour into crust
garnish with waffle cone or cannoli shells and chocolate chips
refrigerate for 3 hours
