Well life lately is still crazy around here. Still on the hamster wheel of work, home and no time for blog. I think we are all experiencing a little bit of post lockdown and running the roads more than normal. It will all eventually show up here as I have been shopping, visiting, and hitting up some fun local places. Now to take a few minutes to edit pictures and start sharing my experiences. This Old Navy Linen Dress is a prime example, purchased in June but not yet shared on the blog.
Is anyone else as slow as I am at editing lately. I have a ton of pictures ut they are still in my camera and on my phone. I need to get better.
Are Outfit Posts Still Happening?
Well honestly I blinked, or maybe took too long a nap and all o0f a sudden all my style bloggers arent there, or they pivited slightly. Now truth bbe told that is totally ok because hey look at me, one to not throe=w tones for sure. I went from 6 OOTD posts a week to a few times a week to yikes now a few times a month.
Breakining ot of the “you can’t niche me” mold. I adore outfit posts but I also adore food and drinks and travel and well whatever the heck takes my fancy. Lifestyle bloggers may be plentiful or some may say way too many but hey for every blog style there is a reader out there right?
No longer content to do what they tell me, I will share what I want. Niching may be on trend buy hey so is food, fun, and fashion right? Share the wealth, share your life. Pls I never actually only shared an outfit, I always shared a story of life or me. But I do often wonder, if you are here for the look do you care about the words? Am i wasting hours utting thought to paper, and then I remember if ya want the look head to Instagram but here you will meet me. Today it is a double boonus meet me and also look at a great Old Navy Linen Dress and how I styled it.
Old Navy and Linen Looks
Not ignoring why you may have hopped over lets talk Old Navy for one moment. Interesting fact, the store may be thought of as throw away fashion due to the total affordability but for me it is not. I have been a fan of the store and their materials for years. Tending to favour the cottons and the linens I hve pieces in my closet that have been around since before I started blogging.
If a dress remains in your closet for over 5-10 years, is it still throw away fashion. One of my all time favourite looks is an Old Navy Linen Sun Dress that first appeared here in 2015. I still wear it often, although yikes a little snugger today.
Old Navy Linen Dress
Fast forward to Spring of 2021 and Old Navy did it again, to date I pcked up two pairs of linen pants and this cute Old Navy Linen dress. Linen, classic lines and best of all it has pockets.
I did not have to pay hundreds in fact I believe it was under $30.00 and has been worn several times already. It is a hard pivot for me re-wearing the same pieces but we all need to be a bit better at what we do, what we purchase and how we consume goods. Don’t turn your nose up at a store because you think its full of fads, fugure out how you can make the pieces classic to you.
This one will transition the seasons for me. I am picturing a Fall look with a cute boot and leggings and maybe a denim jacket. Hmm inspiration for a new post, how to style one dress for 4 seasons.
Finishing my Work Look in Brogues
By now y’all know I have always been a shoe gal. Covid has pivited that look from heels to shoes I will wear in my home. Not sure f I will ever be wearing high heels again ( oops I better because I still kept many pairs).
Normally I would add a pair of sandals or maybe even my cnverse to this look. Today these metallic brogues were calling my name. Another great find. Shopping at Winners in Saint John five years ago I stumbled upon these in the clearance section. Rose Gold Brogues, how utterly impractical but totally me.
The soft soles are perfet for in the house, the colour works well wth the natural blend of the dress and my ankles are thanking me. No=one warned me that getting older would impact my ability to wear heels comfortably.. OK total lie Cybil Shepherd told us that years ago when she ore sneakers to the Oscars. Who knew she wasn’t making a fashion statement but rather a comfort choice at the time.
Slow Fashion and your Views
I am interested in your views of fast fashion vs slow or sustanable fashion? Friend or Foe For me, I believe many would call me a frenemy/ While I adore fashion and new looks I have always been a thrift shopper searching for linens, cashmeres, wools and cottons. Beleieving re-usisng castaways was still cool and an effective way to save money and still look different.
I believe in giving away that which I no longer use, no I do not sell my clothes and shos I donate the all to worthy causes. My excessiveness can also be a benefit to others. Covid had me culling and cleaning and I donated 11 bags of clothes and 150 pairs of shoes. I am a sustainable hoarder i guess.
Tell me what you are?

Linda, I’m totally with you on Team “you can’t niche me”. Great idea for a t-shirt, huh? Anyway, I don’t listen much to the so-called experts either … it’s my blog and I’ll do with it what I damn well please. Regarding fast fashion that you keep and wear for years, I’m good with that because you’re not treating clothing like a disposable diaper that you toss once it’s soiled. I’m glad to see you still posting and having fun. Thanks for joining my link-up.

My summer has been a complete whirlwind, too! I’ve blogged a lot less and had some guest posters, too!! I am hoping to get back into it more this fall. I LOVE this linen dress. It is like a canvas that you can add any pop of color or layer to and it looks great on its own, too!

You always find the best clothes at Target and Old Navy: this is a cute dress! I continuously donate as I add to my closet but less lately as I have been making better purchases: making sure I really like and will wear what I buy.

Sustainable hoarder….I love that term. And that’s me to a tee!!
I’ve always wondered if people read my words too (because I struggle to write them), but then again, it’s all for fun, right?
I swear I could have written this post…niches? I understand what the “experts” are saying with that idea but then again there is a pro and con to everything. Including niches!!
That’s probably why sometimes my unfashion blogs seem way more popular.
Anyways, we love Old Navy too….even mom and Lesley which it’s nice that you also are showing it’s not just a young girls store. Now if they’d only use us older models on their site, then more women would realize that!!

Hi Linda!
Lovely dress, love the lace up detail on the front! I started 7 years ago with 4 fashion posts a week, and now I do 2 fashion posts, and Friday is any midlife topic I see fit. What I feel like, its nice to add variety! You have some great recipes on yours!
I have been buying more on Poshmark, and have done so for years as I can get great deals on new and slightly used clothes.
thanks for linking!
