For today another bit of irony. Ada had contacted me about joining her annual Fall wedding series and I was all excited. I had missed the last few but this time I wanted to join her and the fellow bloggers to show off my style. Plus I even had the perfect outfit from an In Real Life Wedding Celebration. Life took over and I missed the deadline.
However, Ada being Ada had an alternative, this weeks link up was all about Pink and Breast Cancer so would I like to co-host? Well damn I thought. I had just ending my Fashion Link up but I still want to create fun looks and share. Plus Ada had been my very first co-host that cold January Thursday five years ago.
Today we #dressforthecause in pink frocks and show our support. OK am more on the blush shade today but it is still in the pink family.
The Wedding Look for Real
This was not a this year look SURPRISE, but it was a Wedding look. This time last year, almost to the day Kent and I attended a beautiful Boho wedding. A dear friend was getting married and we were invited to join in the festivities. Oh Yea and she has some exciting news coming soon related to this fancy blog world we all hang out in. Check out her Insta , you will not be disappointed.
Anyhow, back to the look, this seemed the perfect dress for a BOHO wedding and was easily Fall transitioned. I had displayed this beauty back in 2019 for a End of Summer Wedding but strangely never shared it after Jannick and Dereks Wedding. Sometimes my blog ambition exceeds my IRL time and energy I guess. No matter it works perfectly for todays, sort of Wedding but showing our Pink(ish) Dress for the Cause look.
H&M did not disappoint with this dress, it can be casual, it can be dressed up and it always makes me feel beautiful. Today I paired it with my Signature Sole Nude pumps and a green clutch (purchased on Carnoival cruise lol). The best arm Candy of all is wearing Haggar head to toe. And oh yea, hair curtesy of a messy bun off Amazon.
October is Breast Cancer Month
This October is breast cancer awareness month and I wanted to start today on a slightly more serious note. Last night I found out from a very dear friend that she has Breast cancer. I also lost another friend earlier this year to breast cancer. And FYI both of them far younger that I. Ironically I had already partnered with the Canadian Breast Cancer Society to try and raise awareness (and money) this month. The most recent news means I will be hammering you with facts. figures and please all month even more than I normally would.
Cancer talk is not new to this blog, it has touched my life way to often, I have written about the impacts over the years. . For me talking helps and for the society fund raising funds helps even more. If you know me at all you will recall I always did the weekend to end Breast Cancer 60 km walk. Working with friends and colleagues every year to raise funds to support Breast Cancer Research as well as moticating me to stay healthy and in shape. This year I am raising funds through #dressforthecause, so feel free to hop over and donate.
Dress for the Cause
Let’s start with some startiling facts shall we:
- 1 in 8 women women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
- This year, 27,400 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer
- On average, 14 Canadian women will die from breast cancer every day
So, check out, @breastcancersoc a non-profit that raises money to fund patient-focused research for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of breast cancer. Canadians are invited to “Dress Up” our lives this month and raise funds for breast cancer research (which you can do from home!).
Dress for the Cause started out as an in-person corporate and team fundraiser, but has now evolved to an online campaign with new and fun ways to get involved. BCSC is inviting Canadians to Dress Up different aspects of their lives this October and raise money to help fund researchers who are passionate about developing new ways to treat breast cancer patients with more targeted therapies and personalized medicines.
Each week includes a theme for how participants can Dress Up Their Life:
- Week 1: Dress Up your Door (ex. house, office, doggy door, car, garage)
- Week 2: Dress Up your Desk (ex. home office, company office, or any workspace)
- Week 3: Dress Up your Best (ex. prized possession, pets, cars, cottages, boats)
- Week 4: Dress Up Yourself (ex. Pink, pink, pink!, clothes, Halloween costumes)
Participants are encouraged to share how they have Dressed Up! on social media using #DressForTheCause and challenge their networks to do the same or donate!
I am supporting this incredible initiative by Dressing Up myself in pink, as well as making a personal donation. I encourage you to do the same!
