Still spending time getting to know the fabulous women who are part of the #thefierce50. Woman who understand that fashion over 50 is more than just an expression, its a sense of style, a sense of understanding who we are and what we can be.
I am 50, hear me roar. I feel comfortable in leggings, I love pompoms and if I feel like adding chambray and fur, well then I will. Now on a serious note I do love leggings but not as pants and I don’t care if you are 15, 25 or 55, leggings are not pants. It’s like wearing pantyhose down the street with nothing else, you wouldn’t right? and heck while I am on this train, yoga pants are also not pants. I know it may confuse you because well, the word pants but they are not street wear, they are gym wear.
I am not a prude, I mean hello I still wear a bikini on the beach but there is something so wrong about the increased usage of leggings and yoga pants as street wear. Now leggings as an extra layer with a dress. sweater, tunic… well that is perfect in my book. I think I have a preoccupation with leggings, I mean seriously not appropriate as Travel Wear, or any wear. I think I made that clear already. Now they are great for lounging and of course for yoga class, maybe even on the way to the gym just not anywhere else OK.
Now my disdain for the streetwear version is not age appropriate at all. I mean truly I am proud of the fact that I believe that you can wear what you love, what makes you happy, as long as it is not yoga pants or leggings. I am one judgmental bwoman aren’t I.
So leaving the judgy trail for a moment can we talk about the boots…. Shoe Dazzle’s $5.00 sale, how excited is this gal. I threw my Chambray and fur vest over my Svelte leggings(C/O) for a casual work look, plus I really wanted to wear my 7 Charming Sisters pompom necklace(C/O) and it just seemed to all work together.
