It’s Canada Day Week and there is nothing I like more than flying my colours. Well actually any excuse to dress up suits me fine but Canada Day celebration are really fun.I love pulling out the Red and white all week long. It’s my annual Canada Day Week Outfit celebration and I want to talk plans. What are you doing on July 1st? I am Thinking backyard BBQ, maybe Petrie Island or even Dominio City Brewing’s party.
Canada Day Celebrations
The forecast is amazing for this weekend’s celebrations. Sunny and hot, perfect for poolside celebrations. The last few years we have had family visiting and have celebrated downtown at Parliament and surrounding areas. Last year was chaotic due to new security measures. We discovered staying away from the main activities was a far more pleasant experience. For 2018 it looks like we will stay close to home and just enjoy the yard. With a BBQ of course.
Petrie Island Celebrations
I am hoping to maybe take some time to have some fun at Petrie Island. Or maybe head over to The Dominion City Brewing Party. If you recall last year the Petrie Island celebrations were almost jeopardized by the insane flooding but they pulled it off. Fun family events in one of the prettiest settings you can imagine. It is a beautiful beach and nature walk setting and always fun for the whole family. The Kiwanis Club of Orleans are once again planning a Canada Celebration for 2018 celebration. They have taken on the organizing of this event. It offers local residents a family friendly alternative to downtown celebration and everyone is invited.
Or Maybe Dominion City Parties
Or, as I mentioned Dominion City Brewing is hosting a fun Dominion Day Celebration. Bringing back old school celebrations. You know it wasn’t always called Canada Day it was called Dominion Day. (French: Le Jour de la Confédération). Dominion Day was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Whatever you want to call it,you can be sure Canadians will be wearing red and white and celebrating where ever they are.
Canada Day Week Outfits
Outfit wise I love spending the days leading up to July 1st showing my love of the Red and the White. Today I pulled out a fun Old Navy Tee Dress and wore it with my converse. A simple yet effective Canada Day statement. A white linen cardi to take the air conditioning chill off and a fun nautical necklace. I will spend this week wearing my colours and sipping from my Rae Dunn Canada mugs (LOL)

Thanks, I love changing my nails for the Holidays. I have been lazy at it this year though. Thankfully “mosiac” gives a fun look

Ah, Linda, I love it…of course probably because I have the long sleeve version of the same dress! Time for me to put it on again this week to honor my very close Canadian neighbors. And although I am not Canadian, I have lived close enough to the border for so many years now that I occasionally hear the accent come out of my mouth….so maybe it wouldn’t be all that weird if I got my hands on that wonderful coffee cup! I love it!

I hear ya on the border issue, it’s why I always change my wreath and add Blue to celebrate July 4th, plus maybe a fun tablescape too. Rae Dunn has great cups
