Posing in my Fecbek tunic leggings and boots before the photo has been edited

First of all, major point of clarification that is a raindrop.  Oh good lord I know over editing pictures is wrong but apparently so in under editing.  Trying to attain that balance on IRL(in real life) and poor weather conditions. I always try to adjust the lighting when taking pictures in the early morning light. Apparently I need to adjust my need for better lighting but no fake edits with double checking rain and snow allocation.  That raindrop is just so not perfectly placed.

Now that is better no Boob spot left on this girl.  OK so let’s explore editing

When should you Edit your Pictures

So my boob spot has me thinking, when actually is it appropriate to edit your pictures? That is a very subjective question actually. Some people may think there is nothing wrong witha nice little touch up, others want au-natural. Some may believe that if people want real woman wearing real clothes any edits are bad.

For me, well I live in Canada and I work full time that means limited photo ops. I love sharing daily outfits but the morning light does not always cooperate. Seriously these pictures were at 7:30 in the morning in the rain and fog. I do not own umbrella stands and big lights. My photos cannot be staged with the equipment I own.  Luckily my garage door is placed so that I can shelter my camera and tripod but that wreaks havoc with the lighting.

My pictures are me with no edits ( most days). Truth be told I have tried whitening my teeth because after a root canal I have one slightly discoloured tooth ( gasp). I also once or twice removed this awful wrinkle that shows up on my neck( I am 54 so that happens sometimes). Plus if I knew how to use photoshop or picmonkey to remove a double chin I would totally do it. I am trying to be honest here.  I take pride in my appearance and most days I think I look pretty darn good but hey we all sometimes want to fix a few things. Right? For me as much as I wpould love to put my best “face” forward its more important to keep it as my face.  It is fun to play sometimes though, us in Atlanta now and how we may have looked 20 years ago lol.

the beauty of a photo edit, lets lose 20 years

When Edits are good

Fixing the lighting, removing snowflakes or even an unwanted visitor I think are OK. Adjusting the light, the ba,lance and the colour again are totally acceptable. If you want to remove your wrinkles, lose the pounds or alter your appearance, well is it really you then? Are you really showing how you look on that day with those clothes?

Editing is like makeup, a little goes a long way. Or like mom use to say, well no mom never really said any of the things I am thinking.  Edit to your hearts content but do ask yourself, would they recognize me on the street?

Todays Checks and Balance

I love this tunic.  I found this amazing company Feckek, (which no longer exists) very affordable clothing and some amazing styles.I ordered this Tunic and I have to tell you it did not disappoint. The amazing thing about this tunic is the removable collar, which gives the tunic a complete different look. I have worn it frequently on the blog but that is only because I wear it a lot IRL.

It worked with my Red hair and leggings, I tied it once with red pants ( meh on that one) but my favourite look is usually with boots and leggings and just a splash of colour.

Today I wore my Svelte Shapewear leggings (c/o), GH Bass boots and a fun camera necklace.  A comfortable yet slightly casual look for an easy work day.

when to edit or when to leave a picture alone, outfit shoots in the winter are always a test when do you edit your pictures, I focus on the lighting but not the rest camera shots and a fun tunic from fecbek the beauty of the unedited unfiltered picture when blogging GH Bass boots with svelte shapewear leggings discussing the beauty of photo edits and wearing my fecbek tunic posing in my fecbek tunic and svelte leggings just walk away when the lights not right

Not sure if its foggy or blurry but it really was a hazy day.

Giveaways

Don’t forget I have a few current giveaways going on for J Crew Amazon, Nordstrom   150.00 to Forever 21 and even Old Navy  is in on the Action. Giveaway  with lot’s more to come over the next few weeks.

January Freeze

On a positive but sad note all the mild temperatures created lots of melting snow.  I found my ice candle holders (yea) but they totally were melted.I created an amazing ice candle walkway for our open house. Worked perfectly for the first hour and then they totally got buried in the snow.

discovering your ice candle holders have all melted

As usual linking up with a lot of awesome ladies (bloggers) that y’all need to check out.

I don’t tweak my photos too much, I adjust the brightness and increase the vibrance/saturation sometimes, especially if it’s a dull day. Occassionally I get rid of bits of fluff on my sweaters – black really shows them up. I don’t use instagram filters either. I wouldn’t know how to make myself look slimmer, my Photoshop skills are very basic! Thanks for linking up!

Lots of people use filters on instagram, editing is easier and a lot more people do it today. Very eye catching checker dress

This is a great post. I actually don’t like blogs the photos are gigantic, and perfectly polished with all the professional lighting. It is just too fake. A little editing is fine, it is still a normal picture. I love that CVS is going to top allowing their contractors to substantially photoshop their models, to help promote healthy and natural – love!

What a great post! This is definitely something that style bloggers should keep in mind. How much editing is too much? But some editing makes for a more “professional” looking blog. I usually just fix lighting issues and I never do anything to make my body look different (although tempting to make myself look slimmer). Thanks for linking up with TBB!

too tempting at times but I am like you fixing the lighting is important but the other stuff can take it to far.

I think you look great! I agree with a little editing can go a long way. I too, have a front tooth that is discolored and hate to have an open smile because of it. But given the chance too do a touch-up on it through editing of photos I’d wouldn’t hesitate. There’s nothing wrong with softening the rough patches a little just don’t go overboard. Love the checkered tunic! You Rock It!
